About

Description:

I am a Laughter Yoga Leader, and Occupational Therapist.

I enjoy facilitating Laughter Yoga sessions, the content is always created for each particular group. This has been for the general community, as well as for Parkinson's groups, people with dementia and other cognitive impariments, clinical teams and at conferences.

These sessions are great for teams, conferences, trainings and any other opportunity. As an OT I am able to offer holistic input to support teams and staff. I have also studied Laughter yoga to advanced level under the direct instruction of its founder, Dr Madan Kataria (a medical doctor).

Laughter is now recognised by the NHS to improve health and reduce anxiety and sickness levels. These sessions give the opportunity to reap the benefits of deep belly laughter and joy, as well as oxygenating and renewing the whole body.

As an OT I have worked in Acute Medicine, A&E, Community Mental Health, Inpatient Mental Health, Early Intervention Psychosis, Forensic Psychiatry. Currently I am working in Later Life psychiatry, and benefit hugely from clinical supervision from an expert in cognition, based in Australia.

As an undergraduate I researched the 'Role of Humour in Healthcare' and presented my findings at the RCOT Conference. I have gone on to present on Humour in Healthcare at International and National Conferences.

I am passionate about comedy and its role in our making sense of the world and our experiences, using it to reframe stressors. I have experience in stand up comedy, including as a guest comedian in a show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

I offer bespoke Laughter Yoga sessions, which have a range of health benefits and a great evidence base to support wellbeing, productivity and stress relief.

I have provided sessions to NHS Trusts, including Bournemouth Hospital and Avon and Wiltshire NHS Trust, with great feedback, and am happy to provide further sessions to support staff wellbeing. As an NHS worker myself I am more than aware of the stress levels involved in the work.

I have a background in theatre, working in Stage Management and Wardrobe Management, which I still do. This has involved large scale tours, West End productions, repertory, Theatre in Education and groups with special needs.

I really enjoy bringing Laughter Yoga sessions to groups and sharing the joy of laughter! It makes me smile just thinking about it!
