Lee-Jean Fung hails from Johor Bahru, Malaysia, and has retired as a pharmacist after dedicating over 35 years to the pharmacy service industry. In August 2008, she received training from Dr. Madan Kataria and became a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher (CLYT) in Melbourne, Australia. In 2022, she made history as the first Laughter Yoga Master Trainer in Malaysia.
Lee-Jean is also the visionary founder of the Johor Bahru Happy and Joyous Club, a non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to promoting Laughter Yoga, Clowning, Drum Circles, and a joyful, healthy lifestyle.
Her journey in the pharmacy business began in 1991, where she found herself immersed in a demanding and stressful work environment. The pressures of her profession left little room for laughter, and over time, she lost touch with the joy it brings. This realization led her to embrace Laughter Yoga as a means to restore playfulness and laughter in her life.
After discovering Laughter Yoga in 2008, Lee-Jean firmly embraced its philosophy. Despite her background in pharmacy, she believes in the healing power of laughter as a natural and cost-free medicine. She recognizes laughter as a potent yet underutilized tool for well-being and is committed to spreading awareness about its benefits, helping others unlock their full potential through laughter.
For Lee-Jean, the Inner Spirit of Laughter Yoga has become the guiding principle of her life. Embracing this spirit has transformed her into a more compassionate, accepting, forgiving, empathetic, loving, and joyous individual. It has shaped her interactions with others and has become the foundation of her approach to life.
