World Laughter Day Details
SAVE THE DATE- SUNDAY, MAY 6, 2018
World Laughter Day (WLD) is celebrated the first Sunday in May all over the world. This annual celebration was created in 1998 by cardiologist Dr. Madan Kataria, who also founded the internationally acclaimed Laughter Yoga movement in 1995. Today, and in its 23rd year, Laughter Yoga is practiced in 108 countries and at over 6000 laughter clubs. Look out for WLD events being celebrated in Paris, Tokyo, Sydney, Toronto, Berlin, Frankfurt, Taipei, Rome, Hong Kong, and other cities.
The celebration of World Laughter Day is a positive manifestation for world peace and is intended to build up a global consciousness of unity and friendship through laughter.
Philadelphia, PA — Join in the fun and laugh your stress away at the Philadelphia Area World Laughter Day Celebration on Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Smith Memorial Playground, 3500 Reservoir Drive in East Fairmount Park, just above Kelly Drive near 33rd and Oxford Streets. In case of inclement weather, the celebration will be moved inside to the 2nd floor of the Smith Mansion Playhouse.
It’s fun, free and everyone is invited! No experience necessary.
Surprise guests will be on-hand to open our celebration with a welcome speech. This will be followed by a 1-hour Laughter Yoga exercise session, co-hosted by Laughter Yoga Teachers Alexa Drubay, Bill Powell (Philadelphia Parks and Recreation Performance Arts Coordinator), Rev. Erdinc Oktay, Peggy Tileston, Edie Weinstein, Oni Lasana and many other 4-5 state area Laughter Yoga professionals to help lead the session.
We will end with a mindfulness meditation focusing on world peace, which will be guided by the legendary Philadelphia Yoga teacher Jennifer Shelter.
Participants will be able to pick up some Laughter Yoga health and resilience packets, as well as area laughter club listings at our info booth. Local sponsors will also provide snacks and water.
Thanks to Smith Memorial Playground, Repatriation Group International, the Delaware County
