Report on First Global Laughter Yoga Conference, Germany
New history was created when we organized the first ever Global LY conference in Frankfurt, Germany held between June 23- 25, 2017. It was attended by nearly 475 delegates from over 35 countries and the credit goes to our master trainer Gabriela Leppelt-Remmel.
Before the conference we had a one day meeting of Laughter Ambassadors, who are rendering selfless service to spread the word of laughter. We released the first Laughter Ambassadors code of conduct, which describes who can become the ambassador and how they can add value to their social work. On June 22, we held a laughter session for peace in a church in Frankfurt. While travelling to the church, we even did a session in the metro, much to the amusement of other passengers. To end the day, we went to a beautiful park by the side of the church and did a mega laughter session with more than 150 people.
I delivered the keynote speech, while Madhuri talked about the role of women in the Laughter Yoga movement. Another keynote speaker was Laura Chaplin, the granddaughter of legendary Charlie Chaplin, who talked about her project ‘Charlie Smile”, which is an online petition requesting the UN General Assembly to pass a resolution that laughter is a basic right.
I also did a three hour workshop on emotional intelligence through Laughter Yoga, which was attended by 110 participants. After the conference, we had a meeting of master trainers to review different LY activities and training programs.
The detailed report will be covered in the next newsletter.
