This two day certification course is designed to provide a solid foundation for anyone interested in learning Laughter Yoga either for personal or professional purposes.

Who is your Facilitator?

Susan Cuming is currently the Public Education Coordinator at the Alzheimer Society of Haldimand Norfolk, Ontario, Canada. For over 30 years has she been working and volunteering in the Community Support sector.

Susan is a Gentle Persuasive Approach™ in Dementia Care(GPA) Certified Coach, U-FIRST Trainer, Bridging the Gap (Intergenerational Program) Facilitator and is certified in Montessori Methods for Dementia, Mental Health First Aid and SafeTalk.

Susan co-authored the train the trainer program for the “Aging with an Intellectual Disability”; curriculum currently offered to cross train agencies in the areas of aging and intellectual disability.She has taught Communication courses at Fanshawe College and will be training in February to become a facilitator of the Positive Approach to Care™ (the Teepa Snow) method.

Susan is a certified Laughter Yoga Leader & Teacher and in October of 2017 received the honour of Laughter Ambassador. She has had the opportunity to laugh and learn with many different populations and groups including the Canadian Hearing Society, Six Nations, Adult Day Programs, Long-Term Care, Hospice and of course those living with dementia.

Susan is a daily laugher and facilitates 2 weekly laughter clubs as part of the health promotion programs of the Alzheimer Society. She leads a weekly evening session at Zaandi Yoga Studio and since 2014 has offered Laugh in the Park during the summer months.

Susan has trained many new Leaders from various health & community support organizations, coordinates the Haldimand Norfolk Brant Laughter Yoga & Wellness network and newsletter, offers new leaders support and resources as well as opportunities to network and shadow. Susan was a speaker at the 2016 Canadian Laughter Yoga Conference in Montreal and has been published in the Laughter Yoga International Newsletter.

She is owner at Back in Play: the Serious Business of Laughter which provides Laughter Yoga, Wellness & Coaching services to groups and individuals as well as support of new leaders. As part of your training, Susan will provide basic information about dementia & memory, discuss the importance of nonverbal communication and things to remember when laughing with persons living with dementia.
