Ernie Oktay, Laughter Yoga teacher / Ambassador: We have just concluded the first LY USA convention at Illinois beach resort, held under the ageis of Laughter Yoga USA, a non-profit organization. Congratulations to Cynthia Paris, Alexa Drubay and Francine Shore who worked tirelessly for the event.
Among the star speakers were Dr. Michael Miller and Dr. Sarah Mulukutla. Dr. Miller spoke about how Laughter Yoga can prevent heart disease, while Dr. Sarah explained the connection between Laughter Yoga and neuroplasticity. Pioneers in their field of expertise and evidence based clinical research, they provided us with information on how laughter is connected to, and even beneficial to brain and cardio vascular health.
The other special presenters were Linda Leclerc from Canada, Jeffrey Briar from Ca., Alexa Drubay from Paris, Francine Shore from NY, Bill and Linda Hamaker from New England, Chris Von Shaak from Oregon, Kyle Edgell from Va, and Tanaz Bomboat from Indiana. They contributed to the convention with their expertise and shared their success stories.
Our distinguished list of keynote speakers included a laughter industry giant like Mary Kay Morrison, who was the past president of an organization called AATH. Author of “Using Humor To Maximize Living” Mary enlightened us with her wisdom of how laughter and body connection works. Then there was Larajii and Arjii, talented musicians, who led the music, sound and laughter meditation. Sabine from Italy taught several laughter exercises in the pool as part of her Aqua haha concept. We also had open laughter sessions where people shared new laughter exercise and a fun night with gibberish party by Dr. Kataria and Jeffrey.
All videos and pdf documents of the convention will be posted on Prozone and Laughter Yoga USA site (www.laughteryogausa.org) in the next few weeks.
