The brain is always changing. It changes in response to what you learn, what you do, what you experience, and how you think and move your body. Amy Cuddy a social psychologist and associate professor at Harvard Business School in her research study discovered that faking a bodily action or posing can dramatically alter the body chemistry.
This happens because the muscles are connected to the brain. Therefore, when you feel happy you smile. But, even if you dont feel happy and you have to smile, all you have to do is to fake it. The muscles on your face do that automatically. Similarly, when you feel stressed you don't suddenly remember you're supposed to frown or tense your shoulders. It happens automatically because the muscles are connected to emotional regions in your brain.
By the same principle, doing Laughter Yoga is a great way to reduce stress and create a positive mental attitude, because it approaches laughter in the form of an exercise. All one needs to do is to learn how to fake laughter. This soon turns real and generates happy feelings in both the body and mind. This proves that just as a feeling can cause a response in your body, so holding your body in a certain way affects how you feel. It's one of the major reasons why Laughter Yoga works very well. And it does so because laughter actually produces positive emotion at the neurological level.
