Laughter Clubs are the heart and soul of the Laughter Yoga movement. These are a worldwide network of social clubs run by volunteers. People get together in groups in open public places, online and indoor venues. They practice laughter exercises along with breathing and stretching exercises to reap enormous health benefits. These worldwide clubs are free for everyone and connect people from different cultures, countries, no matter what language they speak or how they live.

How to Start a Laughter Club

Starting a Laughter Club in India: In India, most Laughter Clubs meet every day at public parks where people go for morning walks. If you want to start a Laughter Club, find a place in your locality where people can assemble, for example in public parks, open grounds or a beach. The advantage of selecting a public place is that people are already there so can join in. The chosen place should not be in the immediate vicinity of residential complexes so as to prevent any disturbance. During winter, most Laughter Clubs meet indoors. Laughter Yoga can also be combined with yoga classes, health clubs and aerobic centers as laughter is a value addition to health building activities.

In Western Countries

The concept of Laughter Clubs is slightly different in the West. Laughter Club members meet for 1 hour every weekend or fortnight. They do laughter exercises for 30 minutes followed by Laughter Meditation. At the end of the Laughter Session, they incorporate singing, dancing and music. Other groups will do Yoga Nidra, humming and other relaxation techniques.
