Laughter Yoga Inside A Funeral Home
Suzette, laughter leader from Canada conducted the first ever Laughter Yoga session inside a funeral home in Burlington, Ontario. Two half hour laughter sessions were received with great anticipation, full co-operation and leaving lots of happy faces. Though it was quite an awkward situation to make people laugh in a funeral home as most of them present there were mourning someone, but it was wonderfully healing. Everyone had the opportunity to release their pain through laughter and they were able to lighten their loss a little.
An eighty year old "grandma" reported she felt great after the session and that her bones were no longer aching. In fact, she invited Suzette to her Seniors Home to do a laughter session with the elderly as she felt that they really need more laughter in their lives.
The manager of the funeral home, and some of the staff and volunteers, appeared joyful which proved that laughter is beneficial even when people are grieving and are in no mood to laugh.
So yes, Laughter, even in funeral homes!

New Book Review
“Laughter, Tears, Silence: Expressive Meditations to Calm Your Mind and Open Your Heart”
By Pragito Dove
Pragito Dove, President, Discover Meditation Training recently launched her new book based on the principles she teaches. Pragito transformed her fear and grief into joy and inner peace. Emphasizing expression, rather than repression, of emotion, these dynamic practices can begin with a variety of movements and sounds, as well as silence.
Meeting practitioners where they are – in sadness, fear, stress,
anger or joy – the techniques can be done in the midst of work,
play, and home life, and either alone or with others.
Drawing on such traditions as Sufism and Buddhism and such teachers as the
20th century mystics Osho and Gurdjieff, Dove’s synthesis meets
the needs of contemporary life with attention to the full range of
human experience and reverence for the peace and joy possible
in every moment.
