Meeting with Japanese professor Yoji Kimura who invented laughter machine.
While on our way to Osaka, we had the opportunity to meet a Japanese professor Yoji Kimura who has invented a ‘Laughter Machine’. It is an unusual gadget that measures the units of laughter on a computer. By attaching sensors on the subjects’ stomach, particularly the diaphragm, he records the diaphragmatic movement. This is indicative of the fact that laughter is coming from the belly and is not just a superficial smile.
It was a very successful meeting and I was honored to be invited as a guest speaker for the Humor and Laughter Conference at the Kansai University in Osaka. The city of Osaka is well known for being a hub of stand-up comedy and humor in Japan.
